After 5 successful years bringing their annual Songs from Ireland show to the historic stage at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas, Carswell & Hope are bringing their revue of music from the Emerald Isle on the road!
Now booking for March 2024, this unique show offers a selection of music from traditional songs to folk, rock and pop genres. Spanning decades – and centuries! – this entertaining and engaging 90 minutes show seamlessly blends traditional airs and ballads from The Chieftains and The Pogues through to troubadours such as Van Morrison and Paul Brady, stopping off at some 70s classic rock via Thin Lizzy, and arriving at more contemporaries such as U2, Hozier and Snow Patrol.
Lead vocalist and songwriter Nick Carswell is a transplant from Ireland, and created the annual Songs from Ireland show as a way to expand on the offerings of Irish music and culture, especially around St Patrick’s Day.
“As an Irishman and a musician here in the US Midwest, I found myself wanting to showcase more than the usual tropes around St Patrick’s Day,” says Carswell. “We have such a rich history of songwriters and performers that stretches beyond what people might be most familiar with. It is always such fun to surprise audiences with new ideas of what Irish music can and does sound like.”
