Steadily building their reputation as the Midwest’s best kept secret in the Irish/Celtic scene, Carswell & Hope effortlessly blends Celtic sounds with Irish rock and pop to create a dynamic and enthralling live show. With an impressive catalog of original material and a growing ensemble of musicians and collaborators, Carswell & Hope follow in the traditions of Thin Lizzy, Paul Brady and The Frames in merging worlds of rock, traditional Irish and singer-songwriter genres.
Carswell & Hope were formed in 2012 when Irishman Nick Carswell arrived from Dublin to Lawrence, Kansas with guitar in hand. He soon found Jason Slote (drums), Austin Quick (bass/keys) and Jordan Tucker (guitar) and they released their debut LP A Hunger in 2014, accompanied by an Irish tour. Since then, the band has expanded to include Ryan McCall on keys, as well as Shannon O’Shea (Unfit Wives) on fiddle and the gorgeous voice of Katlyn Conroy (formerly Cowboy Indian Bear).
Carswell & Hope have garnered high praise as the founding collaborators of the KCIF Mixtape, a highlight of the regions biggest festival. Their annual Songs from Ireland show and frequent appearances on the festival circuit have brought new fans to their unique brand of original performances, rooted in Irish rock.
The group are working on the follow-up to their 2018 Exit Plan EP, planned for release in Spring 2022, with accompanying tour dates through the Midwest.
